I Like it Ruff meets Mark R Charade Photography
I have finished my Christmas shows and am all ready for a brief break so I thought I’d post a little something about my shoot this week.
Myself and my kindred spirit Mark R Charade have been working for some time to put together a promo video for me however as I am a perfectionist and we both have strong aesthetic visual ideas so it has taken a little longer than expected. I am also launching my I Like it Ruff website soon and I wanted some unique and special visuals for it also. Although I am just selling my Ruffs, I thought it could be a great opportunity for us to go for the gusto and make it more of an art story rather than just a product! So this week we decided to harness our creativity into both making the imagery for I Like it Ruff as well as continuing our ongoing video project.
We started with a photoshoot in Mark R Charade’s studio. He tested some different lighting techniques and I tested out some new wigs! I find it hard to have my photo taken so the photos are a little more sombre of me, however I quite like that. It gives us an opportunity to build different stories and characterisations around different types of costume pieces. We also got some photos of Mark too. He has such a strong visual impact that i thought he would look great on the website. (And we at I Like it Ruff believe that any gender can rock a Ruff or a Bonnet!)
We then headed to Supperclub London- where I was also performing that night- to film some fire footage for my promo video and potentially for I Like it Ruff’s promo also. We experiemented with different lighting, angles and costumes. Mark also tried some Slow Motion video techniques which has worked beautifully in his previous videos.
After the fire performances in the main space, we found a more enclosed space to execute my more weird and edgy style of performance with some blood and creepy faces- as one does! I wanted to make sure that the video is varied and has my more subtle (ish) side as well as my more creative side.
Mark also filmed my live performance that night as I feel as though I perform my best in front of an audience. Plus I got some fire breathing in there too!
All in all, I feel as though we worked so much better together now that we are able to input our own creativity as well as our combined concepts. This is a wonderful starting point and I am very excited for our upcoming projects and work to come.
Below are some pictures from the day as well as some behind the scenes shots 🙂
